Martyr

Hussain Ahmed

Martyr

lay your head

on a feather pillow

sleep and snore

fly in your dreams

with unmoving wings

as the world turns

towards dawn

listen to the music

beat of my heart

sip coppery juice

from my blood

you, a god

without a shrine

buried with a woollen

frock

not made for every soldier
