Monica Lacey 2012-2014

passages

This photo is taken in Alghero, Sardegna while on my honeymoon.  This was one of few doors in the wall of the city, an exit for soldiers to quickly get to the docks.

 plant structure

I took this shot of an orchid plant I was gifted, I was completely in awe of it.  This photo was part of a themed photo-a-day series I was doing, and the theme of this day was structure.

 staged posing

This photo of an antique mannequin was taken at Elsewhere Museum in North Carolina while I was artist-in-residence there in 2013.  Guests and artists were always dressing up these old mannequins even though they were missing their limbs.

Winter Roses Monica Lacey 2012-2014

winter roses

I like to keep flowers around the house in winter, and sometimes even outside on the deck – it’s amazing how long they’ll keep their colour and shape even out in the elements.

This image was taken in Darnley, PEI, while looking for some options in the area to have my wedding ceremony.  It was late winter and a calm day – my now-husband and I walked for a while on the beach near here and talked about the future.
